A Year of Intention, Healing, and Adventure
I’m not just marking 49 as another year, I’m stepping into a season of healing, gratitude, and intention. Forty was my favorite year; I felt my best, most alive, and truly in tune with myself. Now, as I enter my last year in my 40s, I want to make it the most fulfilling, vibrant, and positively unforgettable year yet.
This isn’t just about one day; it’s about honoring an entire year of life. It’s about celebrating the experiences that have shaped me, embracing the present moment, and stepping boldly into the future. After coming through the hardest year of my life, losing my beloved husband, it truly seems easier to just let life pass me by. But I am holding on to the truth that God is still good, and He is with me through every step. I want to cherish the beauty of my 40s while making space for healing, adventure, and deep connection. So, I’m committing to making 49 a year of intention.

How I’m Celebrating My 49th Year
1. Memorizing 49 Scripture Verses
This year, I’m dedicating myself to memorizing 49 verses of Scripture. Each verse will remind me that His promises are good and true as they encourage me in my journey. Whether it’s promises of peace, strength, or hope, I want to hide God’s promises in my heart and speak them with my lips to guide me in healing, by taking every thought captive.
2. Monthly Celebrations
Instead of one big birthday party, I’ll plan something special each month. It could be a weekend getaway, a spa day, a dinner with friends, or even a solo retreat to reflect on where I’ve been and where I’m headed. Each celebration will remind me of God’s faithfulness and the beauty of life, even in the midst of challenges.
3. Travel to a Meaningful Destination
This year, I want to visit a place that holds deep significance, somewhere I’ve always dreamed of going or a destination that reconnects me with a cherished part of my past. A place that brings peace to my heart. I will go where I can experience God’s creation in a deeper way.
4. A Year of Gratitude
I’m committing to writing 49 letters of appreciation, to friends, family, mentors, or even to myself. Expressing gratitude will make this year even more meaningful, helping me recognize God’s blessings in my life and in the lives of those around me.
5. A Legacy Project
This year, I want to create something lasting—a journal, a photo book, a devotional, or maybe a blog—that captures the experiences and lessons from my 40s. This will serve as a reminder of God’s faithfulness in every season of life.
6. Saying “Yes” More
This year, I’m embracing spontaneity and saying yes to opportunities that excite and challenge me. Whether it’s an impromptu trip, a new creative project, or something completely outside my comfort zone, I’m ready to lean into adventure, trusting that God’s plans are always for my good.
7. A Grand Finale
As I approach 50, I want to close out this decade with an unforgettable celebration; a party, a retreat, or a special trip to mark the transition into the next chapter with joy and excitement. This will be a time to celebrate not only my life but the goodness of God that has carried me through.
My 49th year is a celebration of everything I’ve become and all that is still ahead. I am choosing to live it with intention and a spirit of adventure. With God’s grace, I am healing, embracing life, trusting Him with every step, and making every moment count.
